Avitars, squares & circles

If you draw a square and put a circle in the square with the edge of the circle touching the sides of the square what percentage of space is left if you remove the amount in the circle ?

Is this figure the percentage of space we have lost when the Avitars were changed to circles ?

Or is it the percentage of members that moved to the new forum?

Re: Avitars, squares & circles

I make it 21.5%.

Assuming the square is 2x2 then it's area is 4

the radius of the circle would be 1 so it's area would be Pi*r^2 =3.14 (2 decimal places)

Area lost would be 4-3.14=0.86 Which is 21.5% of the square's area.

Do you think we can get our subscriber fees reduced by that to make up for the loss? Wink

Re: Avitars, squares & circles

Talking of percentages eBay look like they are considering a fee rise to 12%.

That would really screw the pooch as 10% is already too high.

That said the same applies here with every line rental rise.
