Australian Open Mens tennis Final

Andy Murray will make history tomorrow in Melbourne if he wins the Australian Open against Roger Federer.  He will be the first British Player since 1936 to win a Grand Slam.  He's got a good record against Federer winning 6 of their 10 matches but not a Slam.  Looking forward to watching a good match.  It's on BBC2 Sunday at 8.30am. Re: Australian Open Mens tennis Final

Yes - we will be hoping he does well.
If he wins - it will be ' the first British winning since 1936.'
If he looses.
'The Scottish tennis player Andy Murray fails again to win a grand slam '

I just wish the guy didn't open his mouth so wide, the press and TV camera's just love to show it.
So how many sets are you predicting and who wins ? .

Yep, it's on BBC HD at 8am. The papers seem to be wrong. Looks like the BBC have moved from BBC2 to BBC1 according to the latest info.  I think the match starts at 8.30am Undecided

Re: Australian Open Mens tennis Final

A masterful match and a great third set that could have gone either way.  Some of the best tennis I've seen from Federer Smiley

Re: Australian Open Mens tennis Final

Federer got $2,100,000 for his win today and Murray got $1,050,000 as runner-up.  Not bad for 2 weeks work Smiley

Re: Australian Open Mens tennis Final

Is that why he was emotional ?
I'm not sure if he will buy a big pad around Dunblane , or maybe join the Gleneagle millionaires row - one of the most expensive streets in Britain, or join some of the many other highly paid sportsman living within 15 miles. Colin Montgomery  - golfer, Stephen Henry - snooker player

Murray already owns a £5m property in Surrey as well as one in Florida.  Guess that may do him for a while Undecided

Re: Australian Open Mens tennis Final

The big challenge for Federer now will be the French Open in May.  To do the Grand Slam he needs to win it and although he did last year I doubt if he will do so again this year.
