Atheist Holy Day

In  Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming
>> Easter and Passover holy days.  He hired an attorney to bring a
>> discrimination case against Christians, Jews and observances of
>> their holy days.
>>
>> The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such
>> recognized days.
>>
>> The case was brought before a judge.  After listening to the
>> passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel
>> declaring,"Case dismissed!"
>>
>> The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your
>> honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case?  The Christians have
>> Christmas, Easter and others.  The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur
>> and  Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such
>> holidays."
>>
>> The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do.  Your
>> client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."
>>
>> The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special
>> observance or holiday for atheists."
>>
>> The judge said,
>> "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. "
>>
>> Psalm 14:1 states,
>>
>> 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'
>>
>> Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says
>> there is no God, then he is a fool.  Therefore, April 1st is his
>> day.
>>
>> Court is adjourned.

Re: Atheist Holy Day

I take offence on this as it's Religious bigotry. I'm an atheist and not a fool.

Re: Atheist Holy Day

Seeing what goes on these days I'd have thought the Atheist Holy Day was 25th December.

Re: Atheist Holy Day

Hope you don't believe the Son of God was born on the 25th December.

Re: Atheist Holy Day

even genuine Christians dont believe that Jesus was born on 25th December, that is a result of various calender  changes over the ages, various branches of Christianity use different days

Re: Atheist Holy Day

I think that story must have come from somehwere in the States.
Now I am a non church going Catholic and no I don't believe the Son of God was born on the 25th December and I've no idea when it was but I do believe it happened
The reason for my own belief of something 'up there' comes from the fact that while I was growing up I had to have quite a few operations that they gave me little or no chance of coming through and I'm still here so while an atheist may argue it was pure chance I'm of the opinion there had to be someone watching over me as you can only have so many chances.
Truth is that when the time comes when we know for sure, we are not in a position to come back and tell anyone.

He must really think you're someone special to watch over you while millions of others were dying.  Wink
