Arise, Sir Tom

Colonel Tom Moore - who has already been promoted from captain - is to be recognised further with a knighthood. The Second World War veteran received a special nomination from the Prime Minister.

I'm not one for rank, medals, titles or baubles, but happy to take my hat off to this guy.

Not often he meets someone in his own age group.

Re: Arise, Sir Tom

Are those safety glasses he's wearing?  He may be slightly unstable on his feet at that age, but would you trust her waving the pointy end of that sword around your head at her age?

Mind you, she seemed to be able to lift it OK even at arms length, so I'm wondering if it's a specially made hollow-aluminium job.

Now there's a thought!

But no, the sword belonged to her father I believe.

Yes it was her father's sword and isn't it nice to see someone of integrity, who refused to discuss the conversation they had with the media.

Re: Arise, Sir Tom

Looking at that picture again, shouldn't Tom be kneeling on one knee anyway?

As for any conversation she might well have asked him what he did for a living or if he came by bus. Usual stuff I expect, but he certainly deserves the respect that knighthood will give him... unlike some we could name.

Yes, loved it when asked what was said, he told the reporter i'm not telling you 😁

Watching BBC breakfast this morning they were asking him how he was to be known now? His reply was everyone knows me as Captain Tom, that is good enough. If we get to know each other better, you can call me Tom 🤣

Nice to see such a genuine person for a change.
