Are you sprouting this Christmas?

A word of caution here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-20805966
My statins do contain a warning about not drinking grapefruit juice.

The only adverse effect sprouts have on me is uncontrollable wind!  Cheesy

Re: Are you sprouting this Christmas?

@nadger, Yes , I heard about that , never did like sprouts but at least now I have a good reason. Smiley
When you look more deeply into the statins and grapefruit juice its more like you shouldn't drink more than 2 litres/day.  Grin
I remember when they prescribed mine in the USA they said whatever you do don't drink any grapefruit juice, typical OTT warning in the States.

I don't like sprouts, good to have an excuse (just don't tell the kids).

One potential downside to her role is obvious — wind-inducing sprouts are the reason most of us won’t have a Silent Night this Christmas. But Amy joked: “Luckily I don’t have a problem with that.
“I think that eating so many my body has got used to them.

Right, that settles it, then. Gonna have sprouts at every meal from now on Shocked Grin

I don't like sprouts

Neither do I however early tests have shown that they have a compound in them that destroys certain cancer cells especially colon / rectal cancer. I remember seeing this on embarrassing bodies (or some other show with Dr Pixie) where she explained this and showed cell samples that had been treated with this compound.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Are you sprouting this Christmas?

one excellent reason for eating sprouts is the conferred ability to clear a carriage on the tube so one can get a seat.

Re: Are you sprouting this Christmas?

If you grow your own you will find them much more tastier without the often overpowering cabbagy bitterness.
I always prefer the dwarf varieties which produce small sprouts as well as having a much reduced height.
Lets face it most of the older of us were put off sprouts because of the giant ghastly things we were served up in school dinners.

I love sprouts - it's swede & turnip that I can't stand as they were used to bulk out our school lunches at end of WW2  Sad
