Re: Are you Posh ?

I'm not posh however i do struggle to understand something..
If someone is poor but they do unusual things they're called crazy.
If someone is rich (or was rich) and they do unusual things they're called eccentric.
Can someone please explain to me why lack of money makes someone crazy but plenty of it gives you some kind of respectable status?
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Are you Posh ?

I've never thought the difference between crazy and eccentric was anything whatsoever to do with class.  Shocked
- Eccentric - out of the ordinary, often downright weird, but tolerable by most people even though they wouldn't behave that way.
- Crazy - as above but basically dangerous to yourself, possibly others.
So it's a matter of degree and nothing whatsoever to do with money or social factors

We dont shop at M&S therefore we are not in their sight(s) Roll eyes Cheesy
Seriously though
The battle of the classes have been going on for as long as the battle(s) through religion
Look at some of the greatest philosophers / inventors et al, that was called crazy, doomed from society
Without them we would not have had the base(s) to all the things we have now

Re: Are you Posh ?

I recall one incident where some students from one of the top Universities smashed up some restaurant following a boozy do and it was just passed off as high jinks as the damage was no doubt paid for by their parents, a similar situation some time later involved a group of youths from a secondary modern school but the outcome was seen in a different light by the courts.
Amazing what power and/or money can do. I can never see it changing.

Are you perhaps referring to the many infamous incidents associated with the ultra exclusive Bullingdon Club at Oxford U while Cameron, Osborne, Johnson et al  were members?
