Are men Sexist or Chivalrous?

Men who hold open doors for women are SEXIST not chivalrous, feminists claim
Quote
Men who open doors for women are guilty of 'benevolent sexism' according to a new study by feminist psychologists.

But it also included acts of 'benevolent sexism', even romantic statements from men about how they cannot live without a woman or how much they 'cherish' women, said the study.

What a crock of *&%$!
I always hold doors open for both men and women (perhaps I'm a bisexual sexist Crazy) it's just courtesy and politeness. I've yet to be greeted with anything but a thank you.
Well, the study was done in Germany and America  Cheesy

Same reason I stop to let them cross the road Roll eyes
I would hold a door for anyone (within reason) and I get annoyed a little if they don't acknowledge with a simple thanks or a smile or something.
Does this mean I should NOT hold doors open for 'ladies with short hair'?

I would hold a door open for anyone following me.
I won't hold a door open to allow someone to enter in front of me.
When going in different directions will hold a door open to allow someone to enter/exit if the door is hinged towards me. What annoy me with some women is that they expect you to allow them to enter/exit when the door is hinged away from me.

Aha ! .... maybe that is the "sexist" bit...... men notice which side the hinges are, and which way they function..... women don`t..... Cheesy
women notice whether the net curtains are straight in other peoples houses...... men don`t !...  Grin

Now you are being sexist! Wink
But what does it mean if I [as a female] hold the door open for male entering after me?  They have only looked at one side of question........................
