Are Talk Talk getting desperate?

Yet another knock on the door this afternoon from a Talk Talk rep.
Rep: "Are you still paying for your broadband?"
Me: "Yes...I'm with Plusnet"
Rep: "You know you can get it for free now in this area"
Me: "There's no such thing as free broadband"
Rep: "Ask your neighbours...they're getting it"
Rep walks away to next door......who don't even have a computer Smiley
Most of my neighbours have BT Broadband.

Re: Are Talk Talk getting desperate?

just same as the engery companys.
tends to go like this.
rep: am from such a such company do you we can provide youe engery cheaper than what your paying now
me: and who am i with an what traiff
rep. are you mr such an such with powergen.
me: nope that data is 10 years out of date. so dont come to my door saying you can provide cheaper than what am paying. the only deal i will take is if i tell you my current consumption and bill and you can gurrante you can lower it by at least £30.
rep: scratchs there head as most dont seem to have a gcse in maths to work the sums out.
me: door gets shut in there face as they just will not take no as an answer
as for talk talks phone service thats a joke my friends bill was huge. think he gets free calls to other talk talk customers but no one else he knows is on talk talk plus i belive with bt calls to talk talk numbers are free any way when included

Re: Are Talk Talk getting desperate?

Talk-Talk rep stopped me in the supermarket this morning,
promised the earth, told him my home phone number,
transpires could delivery no better service at a higher price.
He asked if I'd like to transfer..............I must look green.
He wasn't the first this summer.
Impression I get there are too many ISP reps chasing too few (potential) customers.

My biggest problem is that they employ people who don't speak much English.
I am unable to understand their offers and they are unable to understand polite invitations to go elsewhere.
Unfortunately, they will probably start employing these failed University entrants - on piece work.

[my Bold] You should not have told him your phone number, you may get slammed.  And yes you are green.

Re: Are Talk Talk getting desperate?

Sounds a bit like a brief conversation I had with some energy company reps a few years ago. Got accosted at the exit of a supermarket by an airhead in a suit telling me I would save money if I signed up. He asked me what my quarterly electricity bill was. About £30, I said (at least, it was at the time). He looked stunned, and even called over to his colleague to tell him what I had just said, before admitting that they couldn't save me any money.

Re: Are Talk Talk getting desperate?

There must be money in this aggressive marketing or else they wouldn't do it (I suppose).
Thing is, hasn't the government got some plan for us all to be on the internet with a broadband connection by the year whatever.......?
I seem to remember hearing something of the sort. If so, there will be a lot more profit to be made yet.
At the time I remember thinking what about the folk who don't want computers?
It's a bit like big brother - you shall be connected......or else!

If Mrmarkus means what I think he means then he had better behave himself - married less than 6 months too!
If we lose him from the Plusnet forum we will all know why!
