April sunshine

We have been getting some excellent weather this month but if memory serves me correctly on previous years when we have had  good weather in April the rest of the year has been a washout apart from the odd day or two.

Re: April sunshine

The west coast of Scotland is warmed by the Gulf stream and the plant life is different, two years ago had a holiday in a west coast tree house, they had to get the oak from the east coast as it was slower growing and had a getter grain

Depends how you define 'better'.
West is wetter/warmer and east is drier/colder. I chose Moray as it's, on average, drier/warmer.  Smiley

Re: April sunshine

West has some very local weather, some areas that we go to regularly can be glorious when just a few miles away it's pouring down non-stop.  Lips are sealed

Re: April sunshine

Not sure if this is correct but I seem to recall reading that some Part of Scotland (or one of the Scottish isles) lies in the path of the Gulf Stream and they have no trouble growing palm trees there.

Re: April sunshine

This April was the warmest in central England since records began more than 350 years ago. It was the fourth sunniest in the UK in the past 100 years and the sixth driest. The hottest spot was Wisley in Surrey on St George's Day, when the tempreture reached 27.8C: the highest April temperature since 1949.

Re: April sunshine

Looks like they may be getting some rain in a few places in the UK during the coming week but the Northwest appear to be in for further sun for another week at least.
