Apple take a big bite out of your pocket

Apple computers are raising their prices by hundreds of pounds...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37799235

Apple's least expensive laptop - the 13in Macbook Air, last updated in March 2015 - now costs £949, up from £849.

Personally... not bothered... as I wouldn`t pay anything like that for a basic computer...

And those new apple devices that are supplied by the government to its minions will probably end up costing far more that £949 each thanks to contractors charging ridiculous prices

Perhaps Apple are planning on paying some tax sometime?

Actually, it probably just reflects the devaluation of the £.

Re: Apple take a big bite out of your pocket

ovepriced. maybe
overrated. debatable.

i have a late 2011 macbook pro, and it's still running as good as it did when new.
you can't say that about many 5 year old laptops. most of the cheaper ones are ready for the bin after a few years.
yes i paid a lot for it, but as they often say "you get what you pay for".

forgetting that it's an apple laptop, it's actually a very good piece of hardware in its own right, and runs macOS Sierra and Windows 10 flawlessly.

I'm running a Lenovo T410, about 5 or 6 years old, aside from the OS being a pain in the bum at times (Windows, of course), it runs like a champ... Smiley

Re: Apple take a big bite out of your pocket

I have been developing web applications using Apple hardware for around 5 years now, previously used a Windows PC. I would never go back to Windows for web development now as the Terminal on Mac is really powerful (for version control and installation of development modules) and the retina screen is really clear for design work in Photoshop. Also the fact that I have never had a degradation of performance on any Mac over a few years of use.

I don't suppose anyone has seen the new Microsoft offering for their own computer hardware to compete with the Apple computers?

Would probably cost an arm and a leg but it looks nice...

Re: Apple take a big bite out of your pocket

I find the microsoft "you can't do that on a mac" ads quite amusing, cos one of them surface things looks exactly like a macbook air, so, basically imitating them and saying "we're better than them", except they all run windows 10.................. Funny

Still, cheapest way to get a mac, buy a PC and turn it into a Hackintosh... Grin

Yeah except apple are more expensive.. and with price increases I'd hardly call it a non story.

the actual story isn't "apple" increasing prices though. it's everyone.
But using apple as the story makes it more sexy i guess.
BBC did at least say microsoft are doing the same (albeit in just one line near the end.)
