I’ve received no fliers, no knocks on the door, no candidates have written articles for any local newspapers, a web-search reveals four would be chancers who collectively appear to know less about budget and policing than
I’ve no idea what any of the candidates expect to achieve if elected and what they intend to do with their 'new found powers'
Yet I don’t want to lose my democratic right to vote.
Is it wrong to submit a spoiled ballot paper?
I believe this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity, I cannot see it happening again.

No, it's perfectly acceptable.
I've never done it before (as far as I know), this may be the first genuine meaningful opportunity!
I think something like "I have no idea who these people are and what they represent" written clearly on the paper will achieve that result.

It's perfectly fine to spoil a ballot, and if enough people do so it may give them a hint! (but I wouldn't hold your breath)

We're suffering one cut after another yet them plebs in Downing St continue to find ways of spending money on themselves and their rich chums creating more highly paid jobs that we apparently can't afford.
They then tell us the national debt keeps growing and we must all cut back and work harder?
And no, we didn't get any leaflets or any advertising about it either.

At any given moment in the universe many things happen. Coincidence is a matter of how close these events are in space, time and relationship.

Some of the candidates did hold public meetings in Essex but none in my part.

Good luck with that, artmo. A neighbour had a new hip a couple of years ago. Used a stick for a while then was back to his usual self walking, driving etc, without, seemingly, any problems.
