Any fuchsia growers here?

I'm not much of a gardener to be honest. We inherited some fuchsia plants when we moved in, and very colourful they are too but one had me stumped.
It had a 'cherry' growing off it. Just one, solitary, cherry. I moved it to have a looked and it dropped off, so am unable to send in photo. I peeked it open and it had the same construction add a cherry but without a stone, more a 'softer' elongated core.
Is this normal. Needless to say I didn't taste it.

Sounds like what you get when the flowers "set": http://wonderinggrex.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/fruit-of-fuchsia.html

I think HPSauce has got the answer. I have a lot of fuchsias mainly in hanging baskets and they do have the same 'cherry' at times.
When I'm really stuck I take a sample down to a local garden centre and ask them. They are always prepared to help.

Re: Any fuchsia growers here?

If you want to prolong the flowering you need to remove all these seed heads (cherries) as soon as they appear.
