Answerphone messages...

I've always stuck with the default message but am thinking of adding my own possibly along the lines of "You know the drill, after the beep...".
What message do you use or have you come across any funny or memorable ones?

Re: Answerphone messages...

You got the machine, you know the routine At the tone, you're on your own.
Me no here. Me go bye. Leave me message. Me reply.
Now I lay me down to sleep; Leave a message at the beep. If I should die before I wake, remember to erase the tape.
A is for academics, B is for beer. One of those reasons is why we're not here.
This is you-know who. We are you-know-where. Leave your you-know-what and we'll get back you-know-when.

Re: Answerphone messages...

Hello, you've reached Jim and Sonya. We can't pick up the phone right now, because we're doing something we really enjoy. Sonya likes doing it up and down, and I like doing it left to right... real slowly. So leave a message, and when we're done brushing our teeth we'll get back to you.

Re: Answerphone messages...

I actually don't use the answerphone facility on any of my landline or mobile phones, if they want me, they will call back.
Main reason, I never seemed to get to my phone(s) before the answerphone kicked in, even with a long delay, so the phone(s) now just keep ringing until I get to it and answer, or the caller gets fed up !
Where I am, mobile reception is patchy, and works best near a window in a distant room, which is where my mobiles live.
My landline wireless phone is only used for outgoing, and sits by my computer anyway.
So, my answerphone message is........ the ringing tone !

An acquaintance of mine used the following:
Quote
"Hello, this is (x)'s fridge. The answerphone is dead. After the tone, please speak clearly and slowly, and I will try to write a message and stick it on my door"

L O L, really like this one.

When I was an agent for a certain company, it used to be:-

This is your local ******** agent .
I'm sorry I'm  out but please be patient
If when I get home you'd like me to phone.
Then please speak clearly after the tone.

I find it incredibly handy BUT also an annoyance. I rang my mobile operator and instructed them to turn off my voicemail for the only reason that ringing me up at 2:30am to tell me I had a message or missed a call was unacceptable. Strangely they didn't see it like that until I asked them if they'd like their phone ringing them up in the middle of the night and to give me their phone number to oblige. Suddenly they were more than happy to deactivate it for me.

Re: Answerphone messages...

Once T-mobile started charging for voice-mail retrieval I disabled it on the basis I'm not paying to listen to someone's message(s).
