OpenOffice is not receiving much development these days.

The main contributors forked OpenOffice to create LibreOffice when Oracle bought Sun Microsystems due to Oracles  behaviour towards Open Source projects.

Open Office is closed in other words; reminds me of the numerous bosses I've had who've claimed that their door was always open when in fact it was almost impossible to get a meeting with them.

I've been using LibreOffice for years. Seems to do the biz and they do update it - whether that's a good thing or not, who can say. Last update was around 300Mb download so not into the gigabytes realm....yet!
