Android phone help

I have a dual sim mobile.
A 3 3G and a tesco 2G sim in it.
The 3 sim works fine on Internet/email calls etc, but can't get it to send/rx texts.
The tesco one sends/rx's texts fine.
The APN's are setup correctly, when I go to send a text it asks which sim and if I choose 3 then it just fails after a few sec's.
I really want the 3 one to work as the texts are only 2p vs 25p on Tesco.
So anyone got any ideas on this.
I only keep the Tesco one
a) 'cause I can REMEMBER the number
b) I still have £11 credit on it.

Re: Android phone help

I also use dual sim, my current phone and previous ones have never (to my knowledge) restricted any sim from calls or SMS.
Have you tried swapping the sims in the two sockets (assuming they're both the same size), you'll likely have to reconfigure which one is active for internet etc?
Have you tried SMS on the 3 simm with the Tesco sim removed?
Have you tested the 3 sim in another phone to check that SMS isn't somehow broken on your sim?
I'm assuming you're talking about SMS texts and not MMS as that introduces a few more possibilities.

Re: Android phone help

No I haven't done any real testing as I rarely send txt's (yes sms not mms). The sockets are the same size but one is 3g and the other 2g only, not got any other phones with me to test on (currently in Co. Durham in a caravan in the sun 17C!) The sim was a new one on 321 so it *should* be sms enabled.
Will pull the tesco sim out and see if I can send a test sms.

Re: Android phone help

OK pulled al the sims.
3 on only in either slot = NO sms
tesco sms ok.
So looks like sms is off for this sim. Will drop into a 3 store and ask them to check it.

Re: Android phone help

Where is the message centre number stored ? is it on the Sim or the phone I can't remember. Might be worth checking if that is correct...

Re: Android phone help

It's in the APN and is correct from the 3 web site settings.

Re: Android phone help

I also use a dual sim phone on 3 and Giffgaff networks with no problems.

3 data centre number is +447782000800 and you find this if you open the SMS app and go to the settings
