I might have to move the armchair later so I can get to the wall socket switch later if Alexa is still off line.

Maybe I will have to switch them off at the switch, but I will wait until I have to get up to do something else!

Guys: make sure you don't leave a loquacious avian of the order Psittaciformes in the company of activated Alexa. I heard a tale of one that managed to order goods, to its owners embarrassment and expense. Be the tale true or fancy, I hope there would be some way for the system to identify the person is who it seems to be.

My solution was to log into my Alexa account as soon as I got it and switch off the ordering option. My non technical avian doesn't know how to reverse this option.

One of my neighbours name is Alexa......................
I always wondered why you can't pick/program your own command name.

@billnotben, as @Mustrum says you can but the list is limited to 3 names, and they won't allow you to set your own to prevent abusive or derogatory terms being used.

I don't have one but three isn't really much of a choice.
If I did have one it would be my "pet" so I would of course want to name it. That would be half the fun. What little there is.
And if it did make a lot of mistakes I would have wanted the option of a suitable "abusive or derogatory" name.
