Alerting the Police

Well I never knew that. If you can't talk when you make a 999 call, press 55

Like most government stuff, probably buired away in a leaflet somewhere.

Re: Alerting the Police

So what's Swahili for "press five five five" Roll_eyes

But no, never knew about that facility either which is good to know especially at my age and if I've had a mild stroke or something and cannot talk.

Don't limit the friends you haven't met with arguments you'll never have.

Re: Alerting the Police

So you dial 999, and are asked which service you require but you are unable to tell them.  You then dial 55 and Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, and Coastguard all arrive?

Re: Alerting the Police

@Jonpe  @Minivanman    No.... you do not dial 999, THEN 55.... when you dial 999 and the operator answers.....

QUOTE (from the O.P. linky )

Callers are then led through a series of prompts and asked to press 55 to confirm there is a genuine emergency.
