Air Algerie: British man killed in AH5017 crash - live

[quote= http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/algeria/10987946/Air-Algerie-plane-disappears-with-116-on-board-live.html]Latest
20.21 Following the confirmation a British man was killed in the crash, Prime Minister David Cameron said he was "deeply saddened" by the death, PA reported.
"Thoughts very much with friends and family," he added.
Mr Cameron has also written to Mr Hollande "to send sincere condolences for the loss of so many French citizens", Downing Street said.
Whatever the reasons, there are far too many plane crashes of late,
I am beginning to debate, weather or not it is still deemed as the safest way to travel

Statistically, it's still the safest form of travel.

The problem is, it may still be the safest way (debatable) but as the numbers of passengers an Aeroplane can carry goes up, then the more deaths there are when 1 crashes/blows up/vanishes.

To match UK fatalities on the roads would mean approximately 15 short hauls planes crashing with no survivors. Sofflying is the safe form of travel.

It doesn't work like that though does it?
You need to compare the number of car journeys, miles travelled etc etc etc.

They do that's why statistically air travel is the safest.

I find it very difficult to believe if I'm honest.
There are 100's of millions of car journeys every day which do not involve accidents.
Yes there are lots of planes, but by comparison the amount of people travelling by air is tiny compared to car travel.
Of course this is just my opinion before the idiots bullies jump on me.  Tongue
