Our milk delivery still arrives in glass bottles.

And the Test Card/pattern I'm quite sure wasn't left on all night.  Wink

Re: Age Questionnaire

Those are the ones I can't remember first hand.
The only private phone I knew about was the one in the paper show where I delivered from.
We didn't have a fridge apart from a marble slab on the cellar head and an Auntie of mine had a TV but it was considered not polite to have it on when they had guests (us).

Re: Age Questionnaire

I can remember as a youngster rigging up an induction loop around the outside of the house connected to the speaker output of our radio.
I then had a small battery powered amplifier board with ear piece and could listen to the radio anywhere inside the loop...a portable radio Smiley

Re: Age Questionnaire

our local glass mlik bottle depot has just closed, the electric cart did come down our street, not sure what is going to happen.
phone, had a shared line here when first on phone, that was about 40 years ago
relay wireless.  the old local station building is still there, the houses across the main road from me all had relay, the cables were removed about 30 years ago.
Still got 45 and 33 records
seen a peashooter in use recently
use a spud gun on the neighbours cat
but remembered all 16

Re: Age Questionnaire

I scored 14.
I don't remember newsreels. I'm probably not quite old enough. I don't remember ice trays with levers either, but when I was a kid we never had a fridge. (We also did not have a washing machine, an indoor toilet, a hot water supply, central heating, a television or a telephone.)
I remember radio relay too. But only in school.
Some of you may be able to settle a minor disagreement I recently had with a relative. When we were young, grocery shops sold biscuits loose and by weight from large tins - the grocer would weigh them out on the scales and put them in paper bag. I recall that potato crisps were also sold this way too. However, my relative does not remember this and thinks I am imagining it. Does anyone else have a similar memory?

Re: Age Questionnaire

I used to get loose biscuits from Sainsbury's in Romford High Street, probably in the late 50;s
thing I have seen then recently as well
Dont fancy crisps loose, they will go all soggy

Re: Age Questionnaire

I recall giving the milkman's horse a lump of sugar when our milk was delivered -  in bottles .  I also remember my grandfather delivering milk by measuring it out and pouring it into customer containers.  But then I did score 15 in the quiz.
