Re: AdBlock Plus: Some companies pay them to have their ads let through

No great surprise is it. Advertising revenue is massive online and if you can block peoples adverts you're naturally going to get advertisers knocking on your door offering you more cash to let them display their adverts.
Yahoo mail introduced a spam blocker years ago with a spam folder. To begin with it was pretty decent and yes it does filter virtually all the phishing emails but it does frequently let through genuine advertising emails too - I wonder why  Roll eyes It's not like yahoo make their money from advertising on their free services is it lol.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

I'd missed that.
What isn't in that topic is that by turning off the option "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" apparently stops the paid for ads (for now).

That one one reason I switched to Adblock Edge last year.

Are you using "AdBlock" or "AdBlockPlus"? The two are completely unrelated despite the similar names...

He's using ABP (see his screen capture on reply #4) but looking in the wrong place.

Re: AdBlock Plus: Some companies pay them to have their ads let through

Problem is that sites are getting used to adblockers now and it is affecting browsing in some cases. I don't use it very often, but the free version of Flightradar won't run if you have adblocker enabled.

Ah, didn't see it, with a lot of signatures with pictures in on the forum makes me ignore text & imagery below posts unless they say they have an attached item... Grin

Very strange to read that... I have ABP running and no problems with Flightradar24 running http://www.flightradar24.com/
