According to this - we are all doomed next year (lousy reporting)

Hospitals have been warned to prepare for outbreaks of malaria and tick-born viruses
By Rosa Prince, Political Correspondent
12:01AM GMT 12 Feb 2008
The UK is to be hit by regular malaria outbreaks, fatal heatwaves and contaminated drinking water within five years because of global warming, the Government has warned the NHS.
Following a major consultation with climate change scientists, the Government is issuing official advice to hospitals, care homes and institutions for dealing with rising temperatures, increased flooding, gales and other major weather events.
It warns that there is a high likelihood of a major heatwave, leading to as many as 10,000 deaths, hitting the UK by 2012.
All institutions have been told they must come up with a comprehensive plan on how to deal with the issues resulting from climate change.
Hospitals are also warned to prepare for outbreaks of malaria and tick-born viruses, as well as increased levels of skin cancer and deaths from asthma and other breathing conditions.
EDIT - title changed to reflect the actual facts as shown below

I checked this out in the original report, which is here. Remarkably, the authors put the malaria story thus:
Reappraisal of the evidence suggests that outbreaks of malaria in the UK are likely to remain rare, though Health Authorities need to remain alert to the possibility of outbreaks of malaria in other European countries and to the possibility that more effective vectors (different species of mosquito) may arrive in the UK.
Oh blimey, I said to myself, it's the PR people on the loose again, so I looked up the press release, which put the story as follows:
While malaria outbreaks in Britain are likely to remain rare and easily controlled, health authorities need to remain alert to the possibility of larger outbreaks in continental Europe and the emergence of more deadly European strains of mosquitoes in wetland areas of Britain .
How this story developed into one about the UK being hit by regular malaria outbreaks is therefore one that only the author of the Telegraph piece - political correspondent Rosa Prince - can answer.

Stock up on high factor sun block, bottled water and malaria tablets then....and maybe  buy an inflatable life raft and book a Ray Mears Survival Course.

With global warming in the UK will we have any wet lands for the mosquitoes to live?

Do not worry about malaria, just make sure that the person you sleep with at nights is more attractive to mosquitoes than you are.
A plentiful supply of regular gin and tonic will help reduce any symptoms.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Regarding press reports etc., you have to realise that all politicians and reporters are strangers to the truth, if they weren't they wouldn't be in the job.
