Accessing rear wiper on a Mondeo Mk3 Estate

Does anybody know how to get access to this ?
It decided to stop working yesterday went to wash the rear screen and no movement, it moved later (after a couple of min)  ~ 1/4 turn and is stuck. So I need to get access to see if it is the motor, relay or WHY.
I had a look but there is no obvious way of getting into the housing no screws visible anyway.

Re: Accessing rear wiper on a Mondeo Mk3 Estate

No idea I'm afraid but my partners ford Ka has metal contacts on the boot hatch and the bottom of the boot hole. When the boot closes these contacts are supposed to pass power to the wiper motor. She had the same problems as you a while back so I cleaned the contacts and that solved it.
I doubt yours is the same (Ka's are cheap and nasty) but I thought I'd post just in case you find anything similar.

Nope there is a LARGE cable runs in the top of the hatch. (about 1" thick)
It is probably the motor, it has hardly been used and has probably seized due to inaction for so long.

Re: Accessing rear wiper on a Mondeo Mk3 Estate

The rear wiper motor is probably behind the trim pane,... you will need to figure out how it is fixed.... (probably them horrible "push and click" type rivets .... try to lever the trim off to check, if there are no (covered) screws.... alternatively... go and ask at the Ford parts department, or even the service manager, might help...
EDIT EDIT EDIT
just found this forum you could join.... but I could not find anything about the rear wiper motor...

If you're looking for a small cover about the size of the motor, according to this spare part picture, the whole bottom half of the trim comes off as one piece, so you should probably look at the outer edges of the whole trim for fastenings.

Re: Accessing rear wiper on a Mondeo Mk3 Estate

Those sort of covers usually have a collection of small screws (often to retain the edges) push clips (for general large areas to stop rattling) and bigger bolts/screws (around stress areas such as handles).
Take off what you can see then start levering. That should expose any clips - these can be quite firm - and screws/bolts you missed.
Tailgates won't normally be too clever about hiding screw heads, unlike in the main cabin.  Wink

Re: Accessing rear wiper on a Mondeo Mk3 Estate

Thanks, I will have a look (when the rain stops), Had a quick look yesterday, there are no visible screw covers, recessed screws etc.so probably the push type. The only screws visible were the ones for the lock on the bottom.
