Access to your house.

How many people who work for official organisations have the legal right to enter your  house including those who need a warrant ?
Write down the number you think, no cheating ! And then look it up under google.
Was the number higher or lower than you thought ?

And then look it up under google.

Using what search terms?
I know there are the following:
HMRC / Customs and Excise
Police
Security Services (which could come in the guise of several different organisations such as the organised crime squad)
Bailiffs
Sheriffs
In total I suspect the number is higher.

Re: Access to your house.

I always thought the power companies can if they have reason to believe there is danger of a gas leak.

Re: Access to your house.

I'm afraid my memory isn't that good, I just can't remember all the words of the song on That's Life many years ago with Esther Rantzen and Richard Stilgoe but it was about who has a 'Statutory Right of Entry to Your Home'.

Re: Access to your house.

After they've used their statutory right....
I wonder what the number of those able to leave your house under their own steam is?

Re: Access to your house.

Under the local by-laws
Where I am sat now, anyone was allegedly legally, allowed to walk through my living room as it was built over a footpath that still shows on the ordnance survey maps until my council put stop to it about 2 years ago
Not sure what the law state is they wanted to linger etc

Re: Access to your house.

There's a public footpath on the Adair Estate. Fortunately peasant shootin is still legal.

Re: Access to your house.

At the time of this article there were over 200 various powers that allowed entry to your property, it's very likely the number has increased since this article was written, so if you get home and find someone you don't know in your house make sure they are not there using one of these powers before you punch them on the nose,
