A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

Hi All
Just read the blog and I share some of the concerns raised about webwise.
However, as the person has come from the voice and not data dividion maybe we have less to fear about webwise being inflicted upon us?
Be sure though, if it does happen, I for one will be demanding my MAC key PDQ.
Good luck to the man but PN obviously has a winning formula so don't meddle with it or try to crowbar BTness into it.
And for goodness sake man, no more outsourcing, part of what makes PN great are the people that run it so no outsourcing to India please.

Re: A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

Just doing the maths;
Plusnet - Neil Laycock + BT + Anthony Vollmer = Phorm
(Plusnet - Neil Laycock) * (BT  + Anthony Vollmer) = Phorm
BT + Neil Laycock^2 -Plusnet / Anthony Vollmer =Phorm

No still can't get there.

Let us not judge by our prejudice but by his reputation and performance.

Re: A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

Especially during a time when BT are trying to save loads of money by getting rid of staff.
A mere "bean counter" would want to merge stuff - in the mistaken belief that this would save money.  Undecided

Re: A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

Just read the blog.
1.. Its hardly surprising that the new chap is from BT.
2.  I dislike Phorm and have actively campaigned against it. But the regular scares (which is all they are) about PN and Phorm are getting boring.
3.  Why not give Mr Vollmer a chance. He's not even in the chair yet !

Re: A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

*shudders*
Could see it now "BT share price surges as BT announces x thousand new acquisitioms (aka PN subscribers) to its broadband product."
And of course thanks to that clause that every service provider includes which says they can transfer their rights to anyone provided service does not degrade (which it would but we would have a chance of proving) there would be nothing we could do apart from move the broadband service (phone would stay as the alternative is errr BT or phone wotsit (which is worse)
Suppose we'll have to see.

Do you have a lot of time to day dream at work?  Roll eyes TBH it all seems a bit far fetched.

Re: A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

I'd say:  "let's get the new guy sitting at his desk and then see what he wants to do".  A number of current Plusnet staff were BT at some point in their career, so let the new guy have a fair crack of the whip before we make any assumptions. Smiley

I think he suffers from nightmares, not dreams.  Smiley
PN would only add a very small %age  to BT customer numbers.

Re: A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

And as Plus are already owned by BT it would just be a bit of accountancy fudging.

We will see when he publishes his plans.

"resistance is futile, you will be assimilated!"   Smiley
Seriously though I wish the outgoing chap and the incoming one well but just hope the new one embraces all that's great about this one of a kind ISP and does not set about changing it to fit with BT.

it must be my sense of humour but having the title of "General Manager of Voice Propositions " brings to mind certain unsavoury chat lines or double glazing salesmen who keep ringing me up  Crazy

Maybe he'll recruit a team of really nice sounding women (though there's prob plenty of them already at PN) to ring you up and talk you into an upgrade and 12 month contract.

Re: A new person in the Plusnet driving seat

Maybe one of his first priorities should be to let us know his thoughts on how PN will develop under his leadership.  We'll be in a better position to comment then.
