Not the most cheerful program, but Freefall on BBC2 the other day was worth watching, hopeful those bankers in the city may think about the people in the future. It also showed not all the bankers are dishonest. Watch it on iPlayer.

It didn't take long for some of the bankers to get back in their old ways.  Goldman Sachs announced second quarter profits of $3.44 billion this week.  They have set aside $6.5 billion for their staff.
GS had a $10 billion loan from the US government which they have repaid.

Closer to home - National Rail directors give themselves huge bonuses despite NR still making a mess of the modernisation of the West Coast main line.
Although the boss Iain Coucher gave up his annual bonus  he still eart £755k
Peter Henderson £763k
Ron Henderson £731k
total directors bonuses £1.2M
and NR is a government owned company !

Re: A new Slant on the Banking Crisis

I think I'd consider giving up my bonus if I earned £755k. Wink
So much for the government saying they were going to rein in on these bonuses.
