I started to enter details on this to 'win?' a laptop then realised it asked for my telephone number? So whoever it is asking doesn't know it already? At this point I did a quick exit. Normally I would have put in the emergency number but I dont want anymore marketing thanks. I had enuf last time. Undecided

Re: A new LAPTOP?

In a word.... discrimination.
Plusnet assists only works on windows OS and not Linux which means a fair number of PN members are excluded.

Or use Wine.. which linux users keep saying is so wonderful.
Does seem odd though that they'd want your phone number.. the very thing PN have already  Roll eyes
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

But that the whole point (for me) of having a dual booting system I would only use linux to connect to the internet and use Windows when disconnected.

The telephone number is used to identify you should you need to call for support at all.  It would never be used for marketing purposes. There are more details about what data is collected and what it is used for here: http://www.plus.net/support/assist/help.shtml
