On The Ning Nang Nong: A peom by Spike Milligan (Deceased)
On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
So its Ning Nang Nong
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning
Trees go ping
Nong Ning Nang
The mice go Clang
What a noisy place to belong
is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

I like most of Millgan's works, but not his Edward Lear soundalikes. Try this one -
I eat my peas with honey
I've done it all my life
It makes the peas taste funny
But it keeps 'em on the knife
Papyrus and Comic Sans walk into a bar. The bartender says, "Get out -- we don't serve your type."

I'm pretty sure the peas poem pre-dates Milligan. I remember my dad saying it to me, when I was tiny. Being from Belfast, maybe it's an Irish traditional rhyme?

Could well be. It's in one of his books, and of course he had Irish roots.

I love Milligan's epitaph, 'I told you I was ill'
