There is much talk, ( so THEY say....{whoever THEY are ???} ) about the world population expanding and the amount of space they will need to live is taking over the countryside, cutting down trees to give land space for new homes/villages/towns/cities... and all the necessary stuff that goes with it.
now here`s an idea
apparently, there are a number of mines around the world, where HUGE holes have been dug, so big that you can have big hgv size lorries driving about on two lane roads around the mining site.
Some of these mines have been abandoned ( e.g. coal mines in Wales and elsewhere) (probably not "that" big...but ) which leave some great holes.... now... if we needed to house people, they could be put down there !...
Or...you could arrange for the biggest to be blown to smithereens, thereby causing a collapse of the earth`s crust.... leaving a great ditch above ground... this of course would be filled with the waters of the oceans nearby (or even already above the existing mines)... thus lowering the overall sea levels, and creating more land "by the sea" ! .
and... of course,... more land for housing....
Simples ! ! ! ...

Nah, it's just easier to just get rid of all the workshy layabouts, you know the sort, the ones who buy up property and profit off the state benefits system by charging excessive rents and then spend their days doing nothing but wasting space... 🤣

They say (they're at it again) that if all the space in all the human bodies on the planet was removed down to sub-atomic level, the entire population could fit inside an orange.
For those who don't like an orange, similar sized fruit is available.

But then everybody would be dead.
The "They say" crowd are idiots.

Maybe the answer is to work towards splitting the difference.
Reduce food nutrition levels down to pre-war where the average height seemed to be around six inches shorter than today. Speed up the process a bit and after a few decades, when people are the size of Mickey mouse, the world will then seem much more bigger and roomier.
Of course it wouldn't be necessary after that but even the smallest Welsh mine would now be able to house hundreds.😀

There is an excellent book, by John Brunner entitled
"Stand on Zanzibar".
Wikipedia:-
" The title refers to an early twentieth-century claim that the world's population could fit onto the Isle of Wight—which has an area of 381 square kilometres (147 sq mi)—if they were all standing upright. Brunner remarked that the growing world population now required a larger island; the 3.5 billion people living in 1968 could stand together on the Isle of Man (area 572 square kilometres (221 sq mi)), while the 7 billion people who he (correctly) projected would be alive in 2010 would need to stand on Zanzibar (area 1,554 square kilometres (600 sq mi)).
Throughout the book, the image of the entire human race standing shoulder-to-shoulder on a small island is a metaphor for a crowded world."

Anybody remember the film Downsizing from a couple of years back starrring Matt Damon?
Cannot recall how it ended, but I don't think it was happily. ☹️

But there are vast areas on the planet where few people live......even in this country there is plenty of space...I bet there are places you could walk for hours in the highlands and not see a single person.....
The problem is the increasing number of people concentrated in the towns and cities and the nonsense of building even more houses in these places.
What we will run out of are resources to support the increasing population.
As for that B word.....well Johnson appears to support the idea that more resources should be moved north so there is more equality across the country....and about B time so if you are one of the 17.4 m my thanks go to you.

Johnson is a well known liar.
There are many things we do wrong and concentration of population in cities is just one of them.
I blame the Industrial Revolution. 😀

We seem to do things in reverse here with countryside living being very expensive compared to city life.
Most other countries tend to be the opposite of that, reflecting the obvious lack of amenities and services available in the sticks.

We all tell porkies of course, but when we are found out can we ever be believed again? Well in truth yes we can because we would rather believe those that share our opinions. But y'know the worst thing? It's when politicians of all shades do not think voters are worth even that.
