Being born in York myself I'm disappointed that he's not been interred in his home county.  After all Leicester left him under a car park and I don't call that  good stewardship. And we have a proper cathedral.  Embarrassed

Born in York....... dragged up in Leicester.... so I have feet in both camps ! !!

My personal opinion is he should have been buried  in York - I read it was also his wish.

I used to work in Leicester and Loughborough for that matter, and Leicester as his final resting place is like consigning him to a backwater. The relevant history of York and it's position as a major tourist centre would have placed him as a major figure for years to come.  Tongue

But he was born in Northamptonshire (Fotheringhay Castle, a favoured residence of the Dukes of York).
