I think they have customers quite close to that.

Re: 77TB download in a month ???

Actually it would be interesting to see what the most prolific downloader on PN has managed in a month .....
I remember BE sending letters out to customers who hit the 1TB mark asking them to leave their "unlimited" service.
I downloaded a 4Gb Windows 7 image last night and felt guilty  Grin it only took 6 minutes as well  Cheesy

Re: 77TB download in a month ???

Real use or test use?
Our very own Bob managed to download about 18TB in a month when testing Unlimited I think.  Real user wise, the biggest we've seen is 6TB in a month.

Re: 77TB download in a month ???

A rough calculation on fibre I get a maximum possible of around 182.250 terabytes a month.
I hope this thread doesn't turn into a competition Undecided

I think you may have miscalculated there.

IIRC, I racked up around 13TB over just short of a fortnight Crazy
I had to reset VMBU a few times during the testing I did however I do still have this screeny knocking about:

That's with some substantial breaks across the few days it was collecting usage as well.

Re: 77TB download in a month ???

How on earth can someone use that much data though realistically? - p2p, streaming, vpn and some web/ftp servers that bloke claimed to be doing. Rubbish! He must have been running a full blown datacentre at least.
I can survive on a dongle for a month with 3GB and still use less than 1GB. How does someone manage to use over 70TB? - even using p2p I couldn't find enough (legal or illegal) content to download to get anywhere near 1TB.. and I'm addicted to the internet!

Re: 77TB download in a month ???

@Strat Is that right? "A rough calculation on fibre I get a maximum possible of around 182.250 terabytes a month"
I know my maths is not great but:
182.250TB = 182,250 Gb
182,250 Gb divided by say 30 days = 6,075 Gb per day!
6,075 divided by 24 hours = 253 gb per hour - What speed are you getting?Huh
Can anyone give me the formula for working this out. (Sorry brain dead!!)

Re: 77TB download in a month ???

Realistically my connection can maintain around  4Gb download in 6 minutes (from last nights download).
That is 40Gb per hour or 960Gb in 24 hours. In a 31 day month, I'd manage 29.76Tb of downloads.
Thats quick maths and none of that 1024 * 1024 * 1024 nonsense lol.

Re: 77TB download in a month ???

Assuming Sprite meant Tb not TB...
  (182.25Tb * 1000 * 1000) / (30 * 24 * 60 * 60) = 70.31Mbps
If not,  where do I get my 562Mbps line? hmm...  twin bonded FTTP,  I wonder how much that would set me back?  Wink
