65,000 ton cruise liner to join the Navy today!

( spoof DM headline ! )

H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth sheds the Blue Duster and starts to wear the White Ensign, in a ceremony today, with the Queen and Prime Minister at the Commissioning Ceremony of  "Big Lizzie" .

This is the "formal acceptance" by the Royal Navy of a ship, from the builders....

( what a pity the forecast is for heavy rain, almost all day long. )   ( the ceremony is scheduled to take place inside the massive hangar space.)

Re: 65,000 ton cruise liner to join the Navy today!

I paid Portsmouth Harbour a visit in late October, mainly to visit the museum, but I did get as close as I could to the carrier. Even from that point, which was a reasonable distance, she looked (and sounded) an impressive vessel.

Don't suppose she'll be around when i - hopefully - go in February.

When you are in Portsmouth.... and hope to see the R.N. ships going in, or out, of harbour, you can check on the shipping movements 24hours in advance, using this site.

They'll probably park her in a Norwegian fjord to keep her safe until the RN has sufficient (operational) vessels to protect her from hazards.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Lol, that sounds like a dodgy car mechanic working for ship builders. Imagine you had a brand new Jeep and rain water was leaking through the windscreen seal. ..."Just a cup of water per day? It's nothing to worry about. We'll fix it next time you can leave the car with us for the day."

Yeah... it`s a bit embarassing.... but not the worst thing they have to deal with... and the supplier will be liable for any costs involved in fixing it..
