4K & Blue Ray

Is Ultra HD (4K) likely to give an even better picture than a current TV with a Blu-ray player ?
Would a Blu-ray player give an even better picture on 4K ?

Re: 4K & Blue Ray

As with DVD and HD at the moment, the output from a blu-ray player (given current specs) would need to be upscaled to 4K.
While it may produce an improvement in some areas, it still wouldn't be as sharp as a native 4K picture.
Given Sony already have 4K content, it won't be long until a replacement for Blu-ray comes along.

There is also the issue that to fully appreciate, or even notice, the benefit of 4K/8K you'd need a very big screen i.e. you'd struggle to see any difference between them and 1080p HDTV on a 40/50-something inch screen, perhaps even a fair bit bigger.
