Re: 3 times a week now......

I'm getting a nice little collection of these similar numbers in my black list.
I'm likely to find out the list's limit fairly soon.

Re: 3 times a week now......

Plusnet (ie BT) should introduce a scheme where you can dial something like #9876 after such calls to report them as SPAM calls. If the number is reported by more than 20 people in a day the phone system should automatically block such calls for 48 hours. Repeat lock-outs could be investigated manually.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Is the limit tied to the phone memory or could it utilise a memory card ?Huh

Re: 3 times a week now......

If you get these calls on a landline can you ask your phone line provider to block them on the grounds of harassment, I am sure I saw something in the BT telephone directory that allowed you to do this,
No help  mentioned for those on a mobile other than what's been  suggested by others in previous posts

Re: 3 times a week now......

We get these calls ever day, sometimes a recorded message, other times an operator marketing energy solutions. Since we signed up to PlusNet and were allocated this number, we have had these calls, so a recycled number is on this telemarketers list, and now we suffer up to 4 of these calls a day, we are fed up with it. TPS can't or won't do anything about these calls.  Most numbers they use are rerouted from abroad, so they get away with harassing people in other countries because the law can't touch them. What I hate most is if I harassed people all day with calls, the police would be knocking at my door. It is criminal what telemarketers get away with. Grrrr

[quote= http://thedma.org/advocacy/caller-id-falsification/]DMA STATEMENT CALLER-ID FALSIFICATION
Falsely altering Caller-ID information for marketing purposes is not only unethical, it is illegal!
In response to recent news reports about a new Caller-ID service that would allow subscribers to transmit false Caller-ID information, The DMA has issued this statement to remind marketers about their rights and responsibilities when using Caller-ID technology.
When calling customers or prospects, it is deceptive and unlawful for a marketer to knowingly substitute and transmit a false, or ‘dummy,’ telephone number. Rather, wherever the technology is available, a marketer must:
transmit the name of the seller or service bureau; and
transmit an accurate and valid telephone number for the seller, the service bureau, or respective customer service department. A consumer should be able to call back this telephone number during normal business hours to ask questions and/or to request not to receive future calls.

Re: 3 times a week now......

since that call ive had 3 more missed calls and just had another now, I told them to stop calling me and that I had reported them to the police for harassment. dunno if that will work or not, I may have to speak to plusnet and see about getting the number blocked.

Re: 3 times a week now......

just spoken to plusnet over the phone who told me I can block upto 10 numbers for the first 3 months FREE of charge then after that its £6 a month, I was also advised to contact 101 to see if they could do anything to help. So basicly firms harras me so that I end up having to pay my phone line company a monthly fee in order to stop this bearing in mind I can only block 10 numbers.
So im being charged for getting harassment and im worse off, and if I want to block withheld numbers that's a futher £4 a month .............................
Is this the best there is ?

Re: 3 times a week now......

You could look into something like the Gigaset phone which you can block any numbers http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,123528.msg1118607.html#msg1118607
Hope this helps
