You can only use the official Microsoft wireless adaptor for the Xbox 360. You can however use a gaming bridge (similar to a router)
Whats limiting you connecting the xbox on a wired LAN?
The official wireless options available for the 360 are:
Standard wireless adaptor: http://www.game.co.uk/Accessories/Xbox-360/Xbox-360-Wireless-Network-Adapter/~r327033/
The new Wireless N adaptor (which is now a recommended buy considering the price difference): http://www.game.co.uk/Accessories/Xbox-360/Black-Wireless-N-Network-Adapter/~r344966/
Unoficially, a lot of gamers I know either run a new cable to a switch, or consider something like homeplugs which utilise your homes existing Ring Mains to extend your wired computer network
