slow gaming speed on plusnet hub

i have 80/20 connection. when i test my connection on xbox live i get 29/17 and im using ethernet cable.it feels like a 29/17 connection when im playing too.im using upnp on router because i have 2 xbox 360s so port forward or dmz isnt an option.can anyone tell me what the default mtu size the hub is using.

on speedtest.net im getting full speeds.ive changed dns settings on xbox and now getting 51/18.i found out plusnet hub uses 1488 mtu.i thought fibre was 1492.ill have to save up and get a better router.probably netgear r7000.

So many problems with Xbox connectivity!

All the threads Ive seen on here a new router does seem to solve the problem (ive previously recommended Asus if you want a place to start looking).

That said, ultimately I think the issue lies with the xbox and that buying a new router is simply throwing technology at the problem.  It does provide a quick fix mind.

someone said on a different post that the plusnet hub is a rebadged bt hh5. and the mtu is set to 1488 and that will cause problems with xbox/playstation.once i save some money up the hub will go in the bin.netgear or asus for me.

So would changing the mtu from 1488 help, if so what should it be changed to as I'm in the same boat but on PS4
