Re: not very happy

Theres so many reasons m8, do you have bad pings on other games or on adsl speed tests?
This is an ok app for testing pings http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net/
Is there anything you have installed in the last 2 week that could be using your bandwith?
I take it u have checked for spyware and the like?
just trying to narrow things down.

Re: not very happy

There is an interesting application called WireShark which will monitor either your PC's or your local network's TCP/IP traffic at the packet level.
Available free for Linux or Windows.

Re: not very happy

If you have a problem, I suggest putting in a ticket. You need to log the fault, else staff can't really help you much.

Re: not very happy

Hi Slick,
I've had a look at the account and your asset in BTs systems and it looks like interleaving is set to auto. This is most likely the cause of the change in ping times, as I suspect BT will have turned this on a fortnight ago.
The order to remove this is due to complete Monday morning, please let us know if this doesn't make any difference.
Hope this helps,
Slick

Re: not very happy

thanks orbrey and i will keep you posted if it makes any diffrence.
is there any specific reason why they turned it on tho?

i also have another question for you,
i will soon be moving house and was wondering if i can
keep the same package and take that with me or
do i have to start all over again?

Re: not very happy

It gets turned on if there are any connection drops recorded by the exchange equipment in order to stabilise the connection. However if we turn it off this shouldn't happen again.

No, you can certainly keep the same package/account, none of that will change at all. All you need to do is click the move my ADSL tool from the members centre and fill in your details - bear in mind that as your connection is moving to a new line the speed may well change (for better or worse, depending on how good your existing line and the new line are).
Hope this helps,

Re: not very happy

Hi Slick,
The removal of interleaving via BT is often quite a frustrating process.  Whilst BT state that the order is complete, it can take up to 15 days for the affects to actually be seen.  So, it is a little confusing why they would actually state that the order is complete even though when interleaving is still present.
Having said that, I have just run a test on your line and it is showing as having interleaving removed.  What kind of ping times are you now experiencing?

Re: not very happy

well before it all started i was getting 40--55 ms
then it all started,
now i get 50--70 ms
but it comes with lagg.
so ive reformatted the pc with fresh windows to remove any spyware/addware etc that my have infected it and its still the same.
so im completely out of ideas
