modern w2 signal strength

I have got modern warfare 2 on PS3, when playing online (wireless connection) the signal bar is one red dot but everyone elses are green full strength. Also it lags. And when i shoot and move on my own without touching handset.
Anyone know what is going on and got a cure? I know its not our internet connection as its fine with the computers (wireless and cabled).
Thanks

Whats the connection quality on the ps3?
See if you have the same issue when it is wired up.

Re: modern w2 signal strength

Never game on wireless, wired is always better.
Couple of questions...
1) What router are you using?
2) What PN package are you on?
3) What are your router stats?
I have played MW2 over the last few nights with 3-4 green bars every match.

Re: modern w2 signal strength

Try using an ethernet cable in the first instance.
Have a look here on how to get your stats http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

Re: modern w2 signal strength

After keep seeing what you guys on here and other places are saying about dont go wireless i have just ordered a 10m cable which should be long enough, it will probably arrive in a few days. Will try it out and see what happens. I'll let you know the outcome.
Thanks

Re: modern w2 signal strength

nothing wrong with wireless connection, i read somewhere that if you get an 80% connection or above it's as good as wired as the data travels faster than it's used if you know what i mean? (i cant remember how it was explained but that was the jist of it)

Re: modern w2 signal strength

nope, wireless overheads introduce extra latency and has speed fluction that's the issue.
Cable is and always will be better for gaming.

Re: modern w2 signal strength

id consider it common sense
wired is going to be more stable and more reliable than wireless....

Re: modern w2 signal strength

http://www.ezlan.net/latency.html
While there have been strides in the security of wireless packets of information as they fly through the air that security is also a source of increased latency. That is to say, wireless adds latency, and encryption adds even more as the packets must go through encryption prior to flight and decryption upon arrival.
a quick goolge of wireless latency will throw a few sites of info up for you  Wink

Re: modern w2 signal strength

It's roughly around 2ms IIRC, plus 1 second of a drop due to interference and you're a dead man (well on screen at least Wink )
