ZX Spectrum emulator?

Topic.
I have a few old Spectrum game files on my PC, all of which are perfectly legal, as are the emulators themselves, so does anyone know of a good emulator to download to play the games?

Re: ZX Spectrum emulator?

There are a few here http://www.worldofspectrum.org/emulators.html
I never had a Spectrum but did have a ZX81 and ran an emulator but unfortunately can't remember which one.

Re: ZX Spectrum emulator?

I've used MAME for years, it'd not Spectrum though so your post is off topic.

Re: ZX Spectrum emulator?

When I was a LOT younger I used to spend hours playing 'Wheelie' on my ZX Spectrum:

Ahhh... first computer was a Speccy. 48k, rubber keys and all. All about Target: Renegade and Commando (Spectrum definitely had the best 8 bit version of Commando, sure the grenades looked like water bombs but it was smooth as you like to play :D)

Re: ZX Spectrum emulator?

The 128k Spectrum had some of THE greatest computer music ever, even by modern standards IMO, remember the music on games like Robocop, Operation Wolf, Dragon Ninja etc? Also the Dizzy games by Code Masters, best games ever!

Re: ZX Spectrum emulator?

I wasted an awful lot of time playing Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy on the Speccy, I absolutely loved those games Cool

Re: ZX Spectrum emulator?

Ah yes, Manic Miner, a few years ago I tried to do a remake of it on PC games creation package Klik and Play, but I was rubbish with that software and couldn't make any proper games Sad

Yup - you could then press a combination of number keys to transport to the level you wanted.
Poke 36106,0 would get you infinite lives as well lol.
