VOD Services on the PS3

So the v3 firmware has put a TV icon on the XMB with a shortcut to the BBC iPlayer and movie downloads are coming in November. Now I've just spotted this news item http://www.dtg.org.uk/news/news.php?id=3514 - I wonder if Channel 5 will be next?

Re: VOD Services on the PS3

I was hoping they would introduce some other channels since the bbc iplayer worked fine on the ps3 because of the mobile version that already existed through the browser.

Re: VOD Services on the PS3

There were probably a reasonably high number of PS3 users who didn't know they could access the iPlayer through the browser, so putting it on the XMB will drive up usage. Hopefully the other catch-up services will be added soon.
Also it would be nice if they added the BBC HD channel.

From http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitaltv/a176322/bbc-launches-improved-iplayer-on-ps3.html
"A BBC iPlayer icon has been added to the PS3's media bar to offer a one-click link to the on-demand platform. Thanks to a new version of Flash rolled out on the console, the on-demand service can now utilise full support for H.264 content playback."
Does this mean that the PS3 should now be capable of supporting the BBC HD channel?

Looks like I was right
PS3 accounts for 10% of iPlayer viewing
The increase in viewing figures has followed the 3.0 firmware update, which saw the iPlayer have a prominent link on the front end of the console.

Re: VOD Services on the PS3

Sony say they have a surprise waiting for us PAL users but I've no idea what it is. So it could be a new video service or something gaming related.
