Unbelievable lag on COD Ghosts and Xbox One?

The lag is getting to the point where the other users I play with are killing me before they come around corners, usually in one burst and on their killcams it seems as I am standing there for ages when on my side I have just peeked around the corner. It usually takes me nearly a full mag to kill these guys using a powerful weapon so there is blatant lag.
I'm just not sure what to do from here and I'm considering flogging my xbox. Is there a way prioritize gaming ping while keeping my full 75mb speeds?

I find with black ops 2 some games are fine and others aren't.
its very difficult to spot a pattern....unlike fifa. which steadily gets worse.

I've not played Ghosts on Xbox One, does it have any location preference, make sure you're not joining games with Americans as if they're the host your ping will sky rocket and the difference between the ping from 20-30ms to 120-130ms will get you killed.

My son tonight 2000 - 2100 was complaining of lag playing COD on a PS3 - which is normally OK, so I had a look and could plainly see why -
pinging bbc.co.uk 5pps looked like -

I dropped the ppp connection in the hope that it was the gateway and another one would be better and so far so good - no COD lag reported and the bbc test is solid -

Currently connected to
195.166.128.184 and all is now OK.

If you are adsl then maybe your router has something similar.
Doing this does not drop your sync, but if adsl and you don't mind forcing a resync you could always just power cycle the modem/router.
Getting on a different gateway isn't guaranteed, so you have to check before and after either by traceroute/tracert and looking at the first hop outside your lan or looking here -

As for the gateway thing I am on FTTC and my router is the Asus N66U so is it just a matter of doing a power cycle? I keep getting on the same gateway.
Is there any way of Plusnet prioritising online gaming or is that already in place?

If possible find how to disconnect/connect ppp from your router - if you can't maybe wait a while after powering it down.
Plusnet do give games prio.

You need to restart the modem, rather than the router to get onto a different gateway. (Unless you are using vDSL modem/router)
Gaming traffic is already prioritised on our network. If the servers are hosted in the US, there will always be additional latency for the hop over the Atlantic, but it shouldn't vary a lot to cause problems

PS3 lag reported - I ping the BBC and see the same pattern of lag as I previously posted, did a traceroute, which didn't complete -
3 lo0-central10.pcl-ag05.plus.net (195.166.128.186) 14.413 ms 14.421 ms 15.560 ms

disconnected ppp using button on technicolor gateway (fttc) reconnected and got a good gateway -

7 ae2.ptw-cr01.plus.net (195.166.129.4) 13.984 ms 10.753 ms 15.234 ms
No more lag so far - I looked on the usage graphs page and noticed that pcl-ag07 currently has almost 3k more users than pcl-ag05 - was thinking that 05 would be the most loaded, but no, so maybe people are avoiding it!

I can't see any problems reported in our graphing. Also, where are you seeing 3k more users on PCL-AG07?

I got the figures for the gateways from the "Current" that I saw last night (it was 38.x vs 41.x so maybe a bit < 3K)
http://www.plus.net/support/service/network_performance/broadband_bandwidth_usage.shtml
Looking now I see 05 is 38.51 max 38.78 and 07 is 40.47 max 41.43.
I have seen this issue 3 times now and that's possibly low because no body here usually games at peak times.
Maybe I should script up some periodic ping test to monitor.
I did save the output of one of the two I did last night if you want to see all of -
ping -i 0.2 -c 500 bbc.co.uk &> bad-pings-131229

PS3 player reports lag to me I do ping and get results like posted above - drop ppp reconnect on different gateway and all is OK. Different to previous occurances because it was 00:45 so not really peak time.
Next day it happens again 19:15 I got a couple of ping runs showing the issue, one to www.plus.net this time. Drop ppp, reconnect, end up on same gw - but the problem is still fixed.
So I can't any longer think this is a gateway issue.
I may get the technicolor out of the picture soon, so I will be able to see if it's that.
If not maybe this is an OR/BT Wholesale issue, Of course I don't know if a new PPP will/can be differently routed through them or not - I assume if I connect to the same G/W nothing is different from Plusnets point of view - apart from it being a new session?

The issue I described has continued on and off since my last post - always shows on ping to eg. bbc.co.uk, always fixed by dropping the ppp whether or not it ends up on the same gateway.
A couple of weeks ago, I finally got round to doing ppp direct into my gateway PC and it hasn't happened yet, so maybe it was something like the conntrack table/pppd on the technicolor getting "out of shape" over time.
It's possible my slightly lame setup (which was only supposed to be temporary) of nating my lan devices onto one IP which which was dmz on the technicolot which natted again to public IP didn't help.
There is nothing on my lan like DHT that would always use a lot of conntracks, I've not looked how many the PS3+COD uses, though.
