Actually let me be more specific: I couldn't be happier with the speed and the service and the value for money!

Its usually 'perfect' after midnight.
However. At peak times of the day from around lunchtime through till midnight this is what happens when I try to play EvE Online (or any other mmo I noticed).
(Please open in a new tab for full size image)
As you can see although overall latency is often within the 'good to just playable' band, between the server and me, I'm losing regularly 50% and often (at peak) all of the packets. The ping ranges from perfect at 20 or so to 150 to dropping me from the game.
Eve is very very very low bandwidth mmo. So for it to lag, take 30 seconds to load an empty grid, or drop you it has to be either a major issue in London (where the main server is) or ISP related.
I'm wondering how this can be the case if you are traffic managing your network, specifically prioritising game packets?
Do I just have to accept significant packet loss is a constant or is this something you can rectify by updating the game profile in your traffic management scripts etc?
I note Eve_Online is on your list of traffic managed games posted on this forum.
Can you help? I'm not too chuffed that my gaming experience is palpably worse than my old 3g dongle. I mean thats silly right?
I have checked Upnp, checked even port forwarding for the Eve preferred port (26000).
My network performance, locally, is excellent. I'm using the V8 Thompson provided by you and an Alfa Network awus036h long range card with a 15cm antenna (I used previously for catching satellites! lol ).
Even at the busiest times of the day I can get top whack on my connection. Here's a speedtest done at 20:30 on a weekday:
So I don't think its a bandwidth issue, more likely a management/routing one?
PS: I am not throwing my rattle out the pram over this. Even as is, your service is excellent value for money compared to the mobile network I was on previously.
I'd just like to know if the packet loss is network related, script related, adsl (I've always had fiber before now) related etc.

Wireshark capture is definitely the way to go although I'm wondering whether or not the above is typical of your line? Do you always have such a large amount of uncorrected errors? Also worth noting is the fact that interleaving was applied to your circuit on Christmas day. This was probably a combination of the amount of errors on your line and the frequency at which it was dropping out:

I tore it all down today anyway, changed the microfilter (why not?) to a new one from sealed bag. Unplugged everything, popped open the master socket and checked all the wiring.
Re-seated everything, rebooted modem .. and its fine now. So either that or (more likely) something you did re: Eve sorted it.
However the number of errors was still INSANE. So I stripped off the OpenReach face plate and plugged straight in to the test socket.
I guess I should check it in a few days and see if its in the millions or not. Know for sure then.
Its a brand new physical installation btw. Done on your behalf two weeks ago. If the issues persist, should I be looking at raising a ticket somewhere?

Its only been up a couple of hrs but the number of errors of all kinds seems to be accruing a lot slower now its in the test socket.
Eve is fine now. I murdered some poor saps in a WH after supper. Much better all round.

I used the network normally for 5-10 hrs then noticed that after hitting youtube for an hour I went from 12/436 to this:
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 1,818,558,464 / 587
I think its the router firmware not the network tbh. Because thats ridiculous surely?
Hehe.
Needless to say it works fine!

Quote from: Kelly Eve definitely should be fine. If it wasn't, I'd be getting these guys to steal Tommo's veldspar. I'll get someone to have a look for you on our side.
Hang on.. is Tommo actually the benevolent Chribba?
Back to the issue - Eve is definitely prioritised (or I'd be personally screaming at the PN too :P) but your line characteristics definitely show a problem somewhere.
