Streetfighter 6 Connection Issue

I'm no longer able to connect to the Streetfighter 6 online servers. Two things have changed:

  • A new update for SF6 was downloaded and installed.
  • I recently had broadband issues; low download speed and intermittent loss of connectivity that open reach fixed. It's worth bearing in mind, that throughout these problems my experience with SF6 was unaffected.

I've contacted Capcom and they claim that there is no issue at their end (I can only assume that is true or the streetfighter community would be up in arms and I can see nothing to suggest that is the case in the SF subreddit). They do however indicate that the issue I'm experiencing is a timeout problem.

Since the issue has started, I've been able to connect once, played two online matches, and then lost my connection again.

I've tried:

  • Opening up the recommended ports for both steam and SF6 (although I was able to play without issue before without opening these ports).
  • Temporarily placing my machine in the DMZ for my router.

And this seemed to have no effect.

I've attached a screenshot of the error that I'm experiencing when attempting to go online within SF6.

If anyone has any thoughts on what may be tried or have experienced this issue in the past, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have to play Tekken instead!

Re: Streetfighter 6 Connection Issue

Hi @gavarial,

Welcome to the Community!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've been having with your connection, and I can understand how frustrating this must be for you. Do this happen when you are doing anything else online, or does it seem to only be impacting this?

Re: Streetfighter 6 Connection Issue

Hi Rach. Fortunately, it's just Street Fighter 6 that seems to be affected.

@gavarial

A google search for "Streetfighter 6 connection issue 50606-10005" suggests disabling IPv6 in network properties might help.

I also asked Gemini 3 the same question "Streetfighter 6 connection issue 50606-10005"

Network Protocol Tweaks
SF6 is notorious for struggling with IPv6 and certain router security features.

Disable IPv6: 1. Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings. 2. Right-click your connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) > Properties. 3. Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6). 4. Restart your PC and try again.

Hope this helps

Edit: plusnet has not implemented IPv6 yet

@Dan_the_Van

Though Plusnet has not implemented IPv6 WAN side, the Hub 2 can support it LAN side.  If IPv6 is enabled for the LAN could that give rise to this scenario?

Well that is the suggestion from my reading, disable IPv6 on the PC running the Steam app which hosts the game.

With both BT/EE along with other comms providers providing IPv6 it would appear plusnet are a bit behind, but that's a story for another board.

Re: Streetfighter 6 Connection Issue

Thanks for the response. I gave disabling IPv6 on my PC a go and no success there unfortunately. I might try installing SF6 on my wife's PC to see whether it's a specific problem with my machine or the network in general.

Re: Streetfighter 6 Connection Issue

If you have setup any port forward rules don't forget to change the destination "Device" (the PC name or IP Address) to be that of your wife's PC.

Have you tried running the game as an 'Administrator user'?

Re: Streetfighter 6 Connection Issue

I hadn't tried running as an admin but alas that didn't solve the problem.

I just tried updating my ethernet drivers but that also proved to not be the solution.

I will make sure that I add my wife's machine to the port forwarding rules.

I can see myself installing wire shark and trying to see what is going back and forth across the adaptor at this rate!

Re: Streetfighter 6 Connection Issue

Thanks for the help everyone. I ended up fixing the problem by purchasing a new router. It seems that it was my Plusnet Hub One that was to blame. New TP-Link router and the problem went away immediately.

@gavarial

great it's fixed, as a matter of interest which TP-Link router do you choose, can you also confirm your broadband product?

Perhaps we should have established which plusnet Hub you were using, at the beginning.
