Steam Handheld console

Steam handheld console to be launched soon.

Depending on the UK price I might get one, even though I pretty much gave up on PC gaming when the original Xbox came out nearly 20 years ago.

Thoughts?

Hang on, £349 for a handheld? I could possibly get a half decent Laptop for about a third of that price from PC World!

Re: Steam Handheld console

You couldn't get a half decent laptop for £350, let alone for £116.

On the gaming side I'll be sticking with the PS5.

Re: Steam Handheld console

A reasonable gaming laptop with an i7/AMD Ryzen 7 processor 16GB Ram and a SSD HD would be more like over a grand

Re: Steam Handheld console

I'll be getting one, but the wait time is too long to make it worth pre-ordering. The ability to play my steam library on the go, or whilst sat pretending to watch a chick-flick with the mrs is too good to put off.

Re: Steam Handheld console

I remote play on the PS5 to iPad / laptop in that very case Smiley
If I had a steam library of any note (think I have 1 game lol) then it'd be a no brainer

Re: Steam Handheld console

If Two Point Hospital hadn't come out on Xbox, I probably wouldn't have bothered at all with Steam, especially given that at the moment the ruddy thing doesn't work on Chrome OS. Also, eventually the complete version of TemTem will be out on Xbox, another reason NOT to get Steam.

Although with the current and ever increasing amount of content on Game Pass, if MS did a handheld, depending on the price and power consumption (sod paying £4 a week for AA batteries from Poundland) I'd consider buying one.

Nintendo have their faults, including over-reliance on brands like Super Mario and Pokemon to sell their new consoles, but at least they know how to do a good handheld that doesn't eat AA batteries for breakfast, lunch and tea.

Fix

Well based on my online research and posts on this topic, I've just been on eBay and ordered a pair of controller grips for my Android phone.

Re: Steam Handheld console

@dvorak I'm an Xbox guy plus I hate Sony, 26 years ago I had a PS1, bought it off my little cousin after playing Soul Blade on a black and white TV in Virgin Megastore.
