Re: Lag on LoL

It's worth noting in the red section of the graph, my PC was on. I left it on overnight doing some serious steam downloading.
Edit: ah apparantly my IP has changed since last night, I guess that explains the graph, here is a new link with my changed ip

2nd edit:
ok my ip keeps changing, making these graphs pretty worthless. Here is another new one

Re: Lag on LoL

Thanks for making the graph, it looks as though your connection is dropping which is in turn changing your IP address as it's dynamic. Thanks for getting those graphs sorted though, it's been a real help!
There's definitely something wrong with your lien that I'd like to get to the bottom of. I'd quite like to arrange for an engineer to make a further visit (Boost Engineer). If you could pop an update on your ticket with your availability, that would be great.

Re: Lag on LoL Wilsor split off

Hello again -
My issue has come back  Undecided
To remind you of our story. We had a cheap Phicomm router that would provide everyone on the network with stable - (in terms of ping) LoL connections, which was great, but the router would randomly restart itself every hour or so, kicking everyone out of games for a good 5 minutes while it rebooted to re-establish the connection.
To combat this we requested an official plusnet router which had a solid connection (ie wouldn't drop) but the ping's were abysmal for playing LoL, so we swapped back to the Phicomm router for now.
Fast forward a few months and we're sick of the disconnects. We purchased a Billion 7800N router to try and have the best of both worlds, ie consistent low ping and no disconnects. It was fine for a bit, with a fast connection, but now I'm seeing ping spikes every 10 minutes of up to 300/400ms, basically the same problem the plusnet router had, but in bursts. This is really disappointing to me, considering the rave reviews on the router and how much I spent (over £100).
I've made sure I'm on a static IP, and done all the port forwarding rigmarole and presumably our upload is still uncapped?
But I'm really out of ideas now, and I want to try and act fast to get this sorted because if it doesn't get sorted I'm requesting a refund on the router (good old amazon) and going back to the phicomm
I have restarted a TBB graph for the new router and Im keeping an eye on it

I did a tracert to the LoL servers and got this:

Re: Lag on LoL Wilsor split off

I'm sorry to hear that the problem has returned.
Would it be possible to run a Wireshark Capture whilst the game is running so we can have a more in-depth look at things for you?

Re: Lag on LoL Wilsor split off

Hi there
I made some wireshark captures. Your video guide said to keep them short or the file size gets quite big
With that in mind I made 4:
'1' is during the patcher/log in
'2' is during the loading screen where I had quite high ping
'3' is just into the game, had quite good ping until towards the end
'5' is during a particularly bad spike of ping (500ms)
I cant seem to post them onto the forums here, so I uploaded them
'1'  -  http://www.datafilehost.com/d/587e58a1
'2'  - http://www.datafilehost.com/d/b55077f3
'3' - http://www.datafilehost.com/d/3931c580
'5' - http://www.datafilehost.com/d/91a3f12a
Also I have noticed the lag in other games now too, specifically Rust and CS:GO, cant believe this new router hasn't helped the situtation
Cheers

Re: Lag on LoL Wilsor split off

I've just made some changes to some of the settings on your line.
I'd expect these changes to take effect within the next 30 minutes. Can you let me know if you continue to have issues?

Re: Lag on LoL Wilsor split off

Hi there,
Just played some games of CS:GO and LoL, and I was lagging horribly in both games. Not sure if the changes have gone through yet, but it's still just as bad.
Made another wireshark capture, this time it's CS:GO

Re: Lag on LoL Wilsor split off

Any ideas what the IP address of the server was that you connected to?

Re: Lag on LoL Wilsor split off

I've no idea, but the lag on LoL is getting outrageous. Almost constant 200+ms ping, and even worse spikes.
I can do more tracert's or wireshark captures if you think it'll help you diagnose the problem
