EA/Dice have put up a notice to say they are aware of the problems related to bf3 and they will update their channels soon, maybe they have not updated their freeview yet

Have you got a link to that notice at all?
We are currently looking at traffic priority on BF3 for the PC, and looking to see if this is one and the same issue, or something that can only conspire to make the experience all that much more worse.

Ste i agree there may be a odd thing with Bf3 at mo , but most of my friends say it not affecting them .
as for me its been unplayable  hopefully PN have sorted things at this end , will let you know after tonite

Maybe it is PN side of things, but its odd how 3 of my friends who use virgin are also getting the same issues as we are.

On the subject of cheaters and how to identify them, that is a thorny one. There are parameters you can use as a guidance though. Apart from the obvious hackers, ie rank 35 in ten hours play and a k/d of 4 + it is hard to distinguish good players from those who have just bought the latest hack. So our servers ddd-gaming.net try to keep a balance look at things. We use the score/ minute and skill level as our main guidance. These have been adjusted as the game developed and so players developed their skills. we have set the limits high but there are still players who will surpass them. We look at this as a player who is extremely talented, or who is using an aid. We like our servers full so when a player like this comes on and is farming kills and not going for objectives, or is using aids they have a negative effect on the population and we generally find many of the weaker players or new players quit the server. So to combat this we will ban any player that surpasses our limits in an effort to keep the servers a place where the average or slightly better have a good place to play. We obviously have an appeals system, where sometimes they win or lose.
We must be doing something right as we have members from all over the world as far flung as Australia.
BTW if there is a game going down I would also be interested, though Conquest or rush are my usual game modes, but I am willing to try anything. Game name is harps1964

Sent you a pm, and I see your request and accepted. Also added Sneakyoldhen. On a side issue the average age of our members is >35, so who says gaming is for kids. unless they are talking about console gaming as we all know the true gamers are on PC...........

yer nice meeting you harps altho before i can really get to know you ill have to knife you 30 times or more in one round of tdm and tea bag you atleast 20 times like i did when i first met Sneak! It would be wrong to leave you out
