Re: Ping problems - whats going on? Seriously getting annoyed.

Pings of 300-600 on and off (mostly on) for the last couple of weeks on Second Life. Been with PlusNet for a long time and this really is not good!

Can we have some explanation as to what the problem is - or are we just going to get " we are aware of the problem" blah blah blah..
What the hell is going on and what is being done gto fix it....

Re:Ping problems - whats going on? Seriously getting annoyed.

There really isn't any more detail than what's already contained in the service status posts about this, take a look at the most recent one here: http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1258133233.htm
We should have another update out tomorrow.

Re: Ping problems - whats going on? Seriously getting annoyed.

The service status updates give us customers nothing by way of information.
"There are still a number of unresolved problems that our engineers are working to fix"
"Some streaming services may be impacted by this dependent on the account type you are subscribed to."
It appears issues of slowness Yesterday and today are also being blamed on high volumes of traffic due to streaming xfactor/doctor who etc.  If larger than normal volumes of traffic can slow it down, then th network isnt fit for purpose, full stop.
We are given no technical details on why we are experiencing these problems, and no detail on what is being done to fix them.
Gaming is just a great barrel of laughs yet again.
NONE of my gaming friends who are with ky or BT have these issue, but I guess thats because they are companies that will just fix the network rather than fiddling round the edges an developing ever more complex traffic management to try and squeeze more and more out of a congested network.  It apears the overhead is simply not enough at PN and the old days are back again.

Re: Ping problems - whats going on? Seriously getting annoyed.

i have played online since the first quake came out way back in 96,and this is got to be the most unstable connection I've have ever used for playing games,i get 150ms pings at least 3 days week at peak times.I expect some slowish connection in the winter months but this has been going on for three months since i been with the company.is it simply the case it can't handle the volume of gamers drawing on the bandwidth ?
im disappointed in the service

Re: Ping problems - whats going on? Seriously getting annoyed.

I am a new plusnet customer and i am very unhappy with the service so far.  Terrible pings blah blah blah... this thread gets longer and longer without any results.  We are waiting for a proper response.  And in the meantime, we are not getting what we've signed up for.
All this... and it gets worse.  WoW traffic isn't even being properly prioritised at the moment.  Angry Don't know if this is affecting other games.
I reported that my wow traffic was not correctly prioritised.  Within a few days I am told that it has been fixed.  So of course I check a wireshark capture to make sure.  Turns out it only gets prioritised for about 2 seconds before reverting back.  Then I am told:
"Our products team are currently in communications with our 3rd party traffic management supplier in relation to this issue. Further reports from our customer base has highlighted a potential packet signature detection issue with current WOW packet versions.
We hope to have this issue fully rectified in due course."

Hi all,
The updates on this issue are at http://status.plus.net - you can read in full there what we're doing to sort this out. We're sorry it's been going on so long.

Re: Ping problems - whats going on? Seriously getting annoyed.

After a almost a whole week (sarcasm mode off)! of relatively reasonable pings, i'm once more enjoying my norm for my time here with them back in the 175+ region.
For a supposedly professional business they have a poor way of maintaining an acceptable level of service you would expect.
hey ho only 11 month before i bail out of this hell hole
