Packet loss to League of Legends EUW

Hiya,
I'm experiencing intermittent packet loss to league of legends. Some days it's fine with a reasonable ping, other times there's serious packet loss, to the extent it's unplayably laggy and  i constantly disconnect etc.
My connection has been up for a month or 2 and this has been happening at least a couple of times per week.
The time of day doesn't seem to matter.
I'm wired to my router.
No-one else in the house is using the net at the time.
I've pinged some other random IP's and they show no packet loss, so it appears to be a localised issue
The only other note is that traceroutes in general show washington and dallas as my first hops. bbc.co.uk has a 120 ping, where as espn.com and cnet.com have 20-30 ping

You are doing the traceroute from a remote site (ie. the web site you are using) rather than your own connection.
If you are using windows then:
- hit the windows key + R to bring up a run prompt then in the box enter cmd and hit enter
- you should have a command prompt window up, in that enter 'tracert xyz.com' (without the quotes, and replacing xyz.com with the destination hostname or ip address you want to generate a trace for)
Then just copy and paste the output into a post as before (right click in command prompt window, select mark, highlight text with mouse, press enter then you can just paste it into a post)

For info when there's no packet loss i have a solid ping of 50-60 at all times. During periods of packet loss, when there's a short spell without loss my ping returns to 50-60, so it does appear to be purely packet loss, rather than general lag and bad ping too.
