I can browse on my PS3 and use iPlayer etc but Playstation Network is unavailable....as it says due to maintenance

I played on and off all day without any issues.
Anyone know how the PS3 determines which network to connect to. Isit automatic or are there settings for it?

Considering the problem was with European servers and US servers were up and playing I would have very much liked to have switched to them
