PS3 ping compared to Desktop ping

Using speedtest.net on my PS3 I get

And with my Desktop I get

My PS3 is actually wired (As of today) and my desktop is wireless using a dongle. Shouldn't I expect the pings to be the other way round?
I know the download speed has gone a bit wacky and obviously incorrect  but the internet is defintely more sluggish on the ps3.

Re: PS3 ping compared to Desktop ping

Don't rely on speedtest.net for ping Smiley
Seriously, it's pretty dreadful most of the time.

Re: PS3 ping compared to Desktop ping

Well I agree with ya but all this time my ps3 has been wireless and while sometimes a little laggy depending on who is hosting the COD4 game I did expect now with fast path enabled and the fact that my ping went from 40 to 20 that if I wired my ps3 it would be brilliant? a little too much hope... maybe  Undecided

Re: PS3 ping compared to Desktop ping

You should get pings using a wired non-interleaved connection.
The pings will absolutely vary depending on where the person is that is hosting the game.  Always try and use a UK connection if possible.

You say that, but I need my fix of shooting Americans in the face when they shout a lot. I'll have to weigh up the pro's and cons of ping and Gunishment.

Re: PS3 ping compared to Desktop ping

I appreciate that, but remember your ping has to cross the Atlantic, so it will always take longer to get there and back.
