Re: Onlive Is coming to the UK on the 22nd September

I was going to make a thread asking about this myself, the service uses alot of bandwidth and I am directing this question at plusnet staff, will the service eat into regular bandwidth? Only asking as onlive have gone into partnership with bt and with bt being plusnet's parent company I was wondering if the usage of onlive would count separately in any way?
If I remember right onlive uses about 1.5gb of data per half hour so you could eat your allowance up pretty quick

Re: Onlive Is coming to the UK on the 22nd September

Seems this could get costly for some, Splinter cell conviction uses around 5GB an hour, The least graphical game you can play uses around 1.5GB data. Sad

Maybe just bt have a special package for it then otherwise it isn't going to be possible for many people of at least you aren't going to be able to play for that long

Re: Onlive Is coming to the UK on the 22nd September

Maybe slightly lower but not much, Onlive uses a constant 3-6 Mb/s, Streaming In 720p.

Re: Onlive Is coming to the UK on the 22nd September

That is right, onlive stated themselves that onlive requires about 5mb for 720p quality
In the USA onlive worked with the ISPs to get the usage separate from their usage allowance so I'm sure they wouldn't have thought of releasing the service here if they didn't have something arranged at least with bt

Re: Onlive Is coming to the UK on the 22nd September

Yeah they wouldn't do it from the USA as there is too much latency, they have already been secretly doing beta and testing for a while in the uk
